Lake Tahoe sits at a high mountain elevation of 6,225 feet and is the second deepest lake in North America at 1,645 feet deep with 72 stunning miles of shoreline.

During the spring, summer and early fall, visitors can enjoy mountain biking, swimming, boating, fishing, golfing, sightseeing and photography, wildlife watching (be bear aware), paddle boarding, kayaking on the lake, fine dining, art galleries, attending shows and music festivals, and more. Be sure to make reservations and get tickets in advance if you're planning to attend one of the large summer events.

In the winter, Lake Tahoe transforms into a winter wonderland and is a very popular destination for skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing, with several world-class ski resorts in the area.

The Lake Tahoe region is home to several communities, including South Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City, Incline Village, and Stateline. These communities offer a range of amenities, accommodations, dining options, and entertainment for visitors. Additional Information

Weather can change rapidly in the mountains. Lightening, hail, snow, or freezing rain, cold temperatures are conditions to be aware of and prepare for certain times of the year. High wind has the power to create large waves on the lake that can capsize kayaks, boats, and paddle boards.

Strenuous activity is more demanding at high altitude and proper hydration of water is important to feel your best and perform your best, whether out on the lake or on the trails. Be well prepared.

Bears are highly active at Lake Tahoe. Never leave food in the car or around campsite unattended. Use bear canisters or bear lockers to prevent attracting bears into camp.
